Preservation detail + selective refinement
A preservation brief for an older finish: remove accumulated dirt, improve suitable painted areas and retain the patina of the trim and cabin.
Condition & brief
The paint’s history was not fully documented. Aged seals and trim needed gentle cleaning, while the owner explicitly wanted the car’s existing character retained.
Method & decisions
We assessed each material and tested cleaning products on discreet areas. Suitable painted sections received light refinement; uncertain areas were excluded from machine polishing. Trim, seals and cabin materials were cleaned individually without chasing a uniform new-car appearance.
Cleaner surfaces with the patina retained.
Surface dirt was removed and selected painted areas showed improved clarity. Age-related marks and sensitive sections remained as agreed, rather than being pushed through additional polishing stages.
Collection included a record of the areas left unpolished and a gentle washing routine for the older seals and trim.
