Inspect from more than one angle
Shade can hide fine swirls that become obvious in directional light. We move the light and viewing angle to separate wash marring, polishing haze and deeper isolated defects. An inspection should reveal the work required, rather than find a flattering angle.
Readings are part of the assessment
Paint-depth readings help identify variation and possible repairs. A conventional gauge on metal panels measures the total coating system, not the clear coat alone. Readings are combined with paint history, surface inspection and a test section; a number by itself cannot authorise aggressive polishing.
Test before working the whole panel
A small test section establishes how the surface responds to a pad and polish combination. We remove polishing residue before checking the result. If a deeper mark would require disproportionate material removal, we leave it and explain the limit.
Inspect again before collection
We check the corrected surfaces under different lighting angles and review any remaining defects with the owner. The handover records the treatment and explains how to wash it. That gives the owner a useful reference for maintenance, not just a photograph.
